Advancing the Careers of Technical Women (ACT-W) is “ChickTech’s regional, annual, and action-packed event where talented women and individuals can build skills, grow their community, and accelerate their career path!” This past weekend ACT-W Boston took place at the NonProfit Center in Boston. The conference started with a Friday night Happy Hour that included food, drinks, desserts, a keynote speech, and a networking activity (with prizes!). The conference continued Saturday with presentations discussing topics such as leadership, inclusiveness, embracing diversity, tech in the community, building your brand, and more, in addition to a few technical workshops. A full list of speakers and presentations can be found here.
Members of Vistaprint and Cimpress (the parent company of Vistaprint) had the opportunity to speak at this conference. Christina Kayastha led a workshop titled “Tensorflow 101” and gave a presentation titled “Hack and Tell.” Sagini Ramesh’s talk was titled “It’s Ok To Set Unreasonable Goals For Yourself.” Christina Aiello ran a “Practical Python” workshop. Lastly, Ann Wong, Sreeja Kaimal, Kasey Labelle, Elaina Rivais, and Christina Aiello, along with HubSpot’s amazing Ash Gelineau as our moderator, took part in a panel titled “Step Up and Be a Leader.” The panel discussed how the Vistaprint Women in Technology group began, evolved, and built its brand. We had the chance to discuss challenges that the group has faced, the rewards that the group brings to its members, and the incredible support we’ve gotten from our company.
