Senior Marketing Strategy Manager, Global Customer & Competitive Insights

 

The Senior Marketing Strategy Manager will report to the Senior Director of Strategy & Insights.  This global team is an integral part of the Global Strategy & Marketing Team.  It is a Center of Excellence that focuses on uncovering market, customer, and competitive insights that inform short-term and long-term business decisions and strategies within the global marketing organization.  The team partners across the organization providing synthesized and relevant insights by integrating our team’s research, analytics, and strategy expertise.  Sitting at the crossroads of the various marketing teams, this team is uniquely positioned to generate impactful and action-oriented recommendations for the global marketing organization.  

 

 The Senior Marketing Strategy Manager will have broad-reaching and diverse responsibilities that include:

  • Synthesizing and communicating insights across the organization to help shape the strategy development for various teams
  • Partnering with the business to understand their priorities and defining their insights learning agendas
  • Translating business needs of the organization into a thorough research / insights action plan

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Business partnering
    • Be a strategic business partner for the Customer and Competitive Insights team within global marketing
    • Work closely with the Global Marketing team to help shape their roadmaps and priorities through an insights learning agenda

 

  • Framing/structuring of a problem and storytelling
    • Develop hypotheses early on with stakeholders and senior manager to help guide research needs, priorities and methods
    • Designing and leveraging strategic frameworks to shape data driven stories
    • Ability to frame and structure the problem and synthesize complex information from a multitude of resources
  • Research projects
    • Manage a variety of customer and competitive research projects from conception to delivery
    • Partner and work collaboratively with customer research experts within the team with a goal of linking customer research findings to business strategy and implications
    • Lead the team to help craft and drive the “business story” from the depth of customer driven data

 

  • Client communications
    • Responsible for managing frequency, content and type of communications with key stakeholders
    • Lead various team members to craft an audience specific story and share insights with appropriate teams across all levels of the organization

 

The Person

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years’ experience in both strategic marketing and market research, preferably gained in a management consultancy, strategic market research and has been client side as part of an insights or strategy team.  In addition, he or she will possess:

    • Strong facilitation and alignment capabilities
    • Top-notch collaborator who can drive teams with diverse objectives to alignment while remaining respected and consultative business partners
    • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and needs
    • Experience leading project teams and managing cross-functional relationships

 

  • Business skills
    • Strategic thinker capable of synthesizing complex information from a multitude of sources
    • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage projects supporting multiple businesses
    • Exemplary communication skills and executive presence with proven ability to interact with senior management and present actionable findings
    • Strong analytical skills – Ability to turn quantitative and qualitative data into a story and insights

 

  • Research skills
    • Experienced in conducting or being the business owner of primary and secondary market research
    • Technically very strong in quantitative and qualitative analysis – Able to turn data into insights that tell a story
    • Ability to dig into the details when necessary, but also able to explain the big picture to individuals at different levels
  • Other Considerations
    • Expert-level proficientcy in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
    • Willingness to travel internationally
    • MBA a strong plus
