The Cimpress legal team is looking for an entrepreneurial, practical regulatory attorney to join our team as an Associate Regulatory Counsel.  In this position, you will play an active role in a wide variety of regulatory work, particularly privacy and data protection, marketing, and antitrust and competition issues.  While a strong background in one of these fields is required, your role will involve advising internal clients and otherwise representing Cimpress’ interests across all three legal specialty areas and more.  As a result, you must be motivated and excited to press well beyond your current area of expertise. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a global legal team at a high growth e-commerce company with a long track record of success.

As Associate Regulatory Counsel, you will

  • Play a key role in the legal “privacy focus team”, including:
    • Developing and implementing a strategic plan to address the requirements of the EU GDPR.
    • Collaborating with our information security team to deploy policies and training to protect the personal information of Cimpress employees and customers.
    • Creating tools that enable the marketing and analytics teams to deliver value to our customers while respecting the privacy of personal information.
  • Develop and deliver guidelines and other self-help resources for Cimpress’ various marketing teams across the globe on a variety of issues, including:
    • Online behavioral advertising regulations and self-regulatory codes of conduct
    • Email marketing laws
    • Broadcast requirements
    • Telemarketing laws and regulations
  • Identify relevant antitrust risks and develop practical mitigation strategies for:
    • Acceptable information exchanges among competitors
    • M&A and PMI process and best practices
    • Developing an e-commerce and manufacturing platform to support third party and wholly owned buyers and sellers
  • Advise Cimpress’ product, product safety and marketing teams on the application of various global environmental and product safety regulatory schemes (e.g., REACH, CPSIA Prop 65, EU Product Safety Directive) to the constantly-growing array of products in the Cimpress product catalog
  • Respond to inquiries from self-regulatory and government bodies and provide direction to outside counsel managing litigation or regulatory investigations.

You will bring:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as an attorney at a top-tier law firm with strong background in one or more of the following: privacy and data protection, marketing regulations, and antitrust and competition issues. International experience and comfort with an internet-based business model is a clear plus.
  • Willingness and excitement about the opportunity to apply your current skill set to entirely new areas of work and some experience in doing so already.
  • Sound and balanced legal judgment and business awareness, with an appropriate understanding of the need to pragmatically assess risk.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately explain complex legal issues to a non-legal audience.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively and timely manage multiple legal projects simultaneously and a deep commitment to teamwork.
  • A drive for excellence and for delivering outstanding service that exceeds client expectations.
  • A passionate self-starter with an entrepreneurial mind-set and approach.
  • Consistent adherence to highest professional and ethical standards.
