Reporting to the Sr. Mgr, HR Advisors and Employee Relations, the Sr. Employee Relations Specialist is part of the Global Employee Relations team primarily providing employee relations support to the managers and employees an in our Waltham, Silver Spring and Detroit locations. In addition to employee relations, the Sr. Employee Relations Specialist will partner with the HR Business Partners to provide programmatic support deeper into their organizations while they focus on the leadership levels.  
This is a hybrid role providing day-to-day ER and mid-level HRBP support. 


On the Employee Relations side, the role will:


  • Set the performance management practices for the location taking into consideration local culture, legal landscape, historical practices, and global philosophies set by Global Employee Relations team
  • Handling day-to-day employee relations coaching managers on difficult employee conversations, terminations, and performance plans
  • Managing and resolving high level employee relations issues. Conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Ensures fairness and consistency across the site and isn’t aligned to one function
  • Proactively identify trends in the local office with possible solutions, training opportunities, and proactively identify compliance gaps 
  • As part of the Global Employee Relations team, the Sr. Employee Relations Specialist will need to be able to execute on projects and have strong global collaboration skills


On the HRBP support side, the Sr. Employee Relations Specialist will:


  • Partner with the HRBPs to deliver key programs identified as part of the overall people strategy for that organization
  • Provide occasional meeting facilitation and team intervention work for management teams on behalf of an HR Business Partner
  • Identify HR issues and leverage systems to develop processes to create sustainable solutions
  • Take ownership of key initiatives and driving projects to completion
  • Have the “on the ground” pulse of the organization partnering with the HR Business Partner to understand the local environment
  • Navigate a highly matrixed global organization to complete projects


In return, you will bring: 

  • 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably with an employee relations or HR Generalist background
  • Global experience preferred
  • Exceptional relationship building skills in order to gain support and achieve results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Action orientation and comfort with very fast pace and rapid change
  • Flexibility to interact with employees at all levels
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Relevant industry experience a plus
  • Ability to travel internationally on occasion
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, employee relations, performance management, federal and state employment laws
